the leopard print affect

i purchased these leopard print shorts from mr price. i dig them - they are comfortable and chic. i feel like i can pair them with just about anything and i might just stand out.... aka the leopard print affect.
here i teamed it with my old new shoes that i purchased from the mustard vintage stall at arts on main. they are my first pair of vintage shoes. i'm not keen on the idea of someone else's feet wearing them before me but i love them like they were mine first.

i dig the overcast look in these photos kinda what you get when you shoot in gloomy britain - contained natural light.
i wish i had taken closer photos of my rings. on my lunch break yesterday i got side tracked and spent half an hour of my break picking out rings. one ring is the head of an indian american chief - the guy selling it told me that it is quite popular among bikers... it's that epic!

joburg love mandela

a friend visited from cape town last weekend. nel, rafiek and i took her to see joburg and she pointed out to us that joburg love nelson mandela as they've named several landmarks after him. we took the gautrain to sandton city where we had lunch at nelson mandela square and in the afternoon we took her to town and newtown and travelled over the nelson mandela bridge.

i snapped some photographs of our lunch. i had the burger - that i created by the way! i've been on a bit of a best burger hunt for the last few months. almost everytime that i've eaten out i've ordered the burger off the menu in the hopes that it will live up to my idea of the best burger and baglio's in nelson mandela square came close.  last week i might have declared it the best burger then my friend becky reminded me of the burgers i had in LA- i guess that is what my body has been trying to remember.

days of heaven

i kept saying when i was wearing this kimono top that i want to start dressing more like a hippie.  it felt like the mature thing to do, like i'm growing into the woman i should be.  hell what's next, replacing my husband with cats.  unfortunately for me my natural style is not cool bohemian, liberal, pot smoking hippie inclined.
nevertheless for that day i felt like a gypsy woman, a dog even peed on my bag when he walked by - a bag i received when i donated money to darfur.

Az-a-tec

the makeunder

lot of my downtime on weekends is spent in the park opposite our estate. my sunday plans fell through and i had the entire day to do just about nothing, half of the day i spent watching season 2 of true blood. fun fact about me: true blood is my least favourite tv show ever (i watch it because i watch everything). and the other half in the park.

somewhere in between watching season 2 of true blood and going to the park i had a shower and it dawned on me that i am constantly stuck in a routine.  i have said before that i painstakingly ration out the time spent on every activity and nothing has changed. i am not quite sure how i will translate it onto my blog but here's attempt numero uno.

summer staples:
  1. loose fit t-shirt - i always have a grey mickey mouse t-shirt in my wardrobe. it's a must.
  2. foundation - i will never leave the house without foundation, i prefer clinique because it's light on my skin and looks natural
  3. clinique eye cream& vitamin C lip smoothie (for that fresh face look)
  4. a lot of moisturiser - i have extremely dry skin
  5. lee stafford protection mist - naturally my hair is extremely curly and unfortunately it has to endure a lot of exposure to the flat iron to create this poker straight result.
another thing i will be doing from now on is play stylist!
i recently purchased these lace shorts and put a little ensemble together.  they are high waisted and i've paired it with a grey crop tee.

this is the remix

I feel like this outfit is a remixed version of another outfit i wore a couple weeks ago.  these shorts are amazing though - i got them from my sister a while back.  my sisters and i are always swapping our clothes. i would swap something that i'm sick of wearing with something of one of my sisters that i've been eyeing since they bought it...

i will also now take this opportunity to tell you how much i love having my two sisters and i could not have gotten any luckier with siblings. we are basically different variations of each other - all those years living together we have influenced each others interest.  i would say we bond over food and clothes mostly (shallow i know).  we exist for clothes and shopping for clothes but god forbid one of us is doing it on an empty stomach unless there is the promise of 400grams of ribs at the end of it.

crazy lady

i hung out with my friend lusanda on saturday - check out her lovely blog here.  she took these crap photos but i will upload them anyways.  these trousers from forever new are amazing.  they light and fit perfectly. anyways enough about the trousers and back to the horrific photographs - she held the camera at such an angle that it seems i'm towering over it. afda my ass. x

to be fair to her we had a bit of an audience (uhm only the entire 4th avenue in parkhurst) and she couldn't perform under the pressure i guess...

what i wore:
trousers - forever new
t-shirt - witchery
sandals - aldo
sunglasses - mango
